The Trick to Avoiding Impulse Purchases

Have you ever found yourself mindlessly scrolling on social media in moments of fatigue and stress?

Have those doom scrolling sessions resulted in your algorithm sending pretty pieces of clothing your way?

Have you somehow justified to yourself that you deserve just one more impulse buy?

None of these questions are asked with judgment, but with kindness. This was me once upon a time. The reason behind my purchases was burnout.

Though I didn’t want to admit it at the time, my frazzled mind needed an outlet. The dopamine hits that impulse purchases gave me convinced me that I deserved new clothes and that they would make me feel better.

These shopping habits quickly resulted in a slump in my mood once I put down my phone and guilt crept in for buying a piece of clothing that I didn’t need.

After the 100th time doing this, I decided to create a framework to prevent me from repeating these mistakes and to share it with you, to save you time!

The Three Fundamental Questions

Are these items within my monthly budget?

It’s always a good idea to set a budget for clothing and accessories every month. This may fluctuate from month to month dependent on your other expenditure at the time. A bit of time spent on this will ensure that if a piece of clothing falls outside of your budget, you stop at this question and file the piece away for another day.

Does the new item honour my body proportions and preferred colours?

If you’ve ever found yourself disappointed trying on an online order to find it looks nothing like the way it looks on the model, you’re not alone.

This could be for a number of reasons, including the fact that the model’s body proportions are different to yours. Or have you bought the piece half-heartedly, because you like the cut and not the colour?

How I can help: My Reconnect with Your Personal Style Package is a great opportunity to take a step back, rediscover and fall in love with your personal style, whilst examining what cuts, fabrics and colours honour your inner essence.

Are these new items adding or enhancing my existing wardrobe?

We often have a tendency to buy pieces that are very similar to existing pieces in our wardrobes, because they feel safe and reliable. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this, it can end up in duplication and wasted money.

How I can help: My Wardrobe Edit package is the perfect opportunity to revamp your wardrobe, so that you feel excited to get dressed every day. You’ll discover which pieces to let go of and which you can repurpose to support your lifestyle. What’s more, you’ll learn to identify the real gaps in your wardrobe.
